About IISE

Founded in 1948, IISE has aided in the escalation of education, training, research, and development of industrial engineering. IISE has already laid its foundations in many countries and for the very first time it is coming to India. IISE – VIT is a student chapter that provides a platform for students and professionals to test their skills and improve them in an innovative way. It aims at providing exposure to the students about the latest and on-going industrial trends through interactive Webinars, IVs, Conferences and Guest Lectures.Figuring out how to do things better, is what Institute of Industrial Engineers (IISE) goes by, be it planning, designing, manufacturing or accounting. The involvement of industrial engineering is not restricted by these areas only, but it also has a scope in various other domains like healthcare, ergonomics, costing etc.

Connect with industry experts and academic professionals and get a practical insight into what careers entail.

Simulation and Optimization Team

Simulation and optimization is the heart of industrial engineering and this very idea led to the inception of the team. The team contributes to research and development of simulation and optimization techniques. Many of us participate in various national and international competitions and conferences. We aim at achieving the best possible efficiency no matter the process.

Lean and Six Sigma Team

Lean and Six Sigma are the most powerful breakthrough management tools of the recent times and its prevalence has spread like wildfire across industries. We help employ statistical thinking in eliminating waste and improving business and manufacturing processes and present our discoveries and ideas at global conferences. Engineers make things, we make things better.

Henry Ford
Founder, FORD Motors

“When Henry Ford decided to produce his famous V-8 motor, he chose to build an engine with the entire eight cylinders cast in one block, and instructed his engineers to produce a design for the engine. The design was placed on paper, but the engineers agreed, to a man, that it was simply impossible to cast an eight-cylinder engine-block in one piece. Ford replied,''Produce it anyway.”

Our IISE-VIT technical team presented 4 posters and 2 research papers in the IEOM Conference. We bagged third prize in the poster presentation competition. The prize winning poster titled “Selection of green suppliers based on GSCM practices : Using fuzzy-MCDM process in an Indian electronics company” was presented by Akshay Kumar Uppala, Rohit Sharma, Ram Kumar M, Deepak Panneer Selvam under the guidance of Dr. Vijaya Kumar Manupati.
